POP FAMILIES

POP Families offers family faith formation for children grades K-5 and their parents! Our First Eucharist preparation for elementary children is housed within our POP Families sessions.

Registration for the 2026-2027 Faith Formation year opens April 27!

The first catechists are our parents, those who first spoke to us and taught us to speak. Just as we learned our mother tongue, so too the proclamation of faith cannot be delegated to others; it happens where we live, first of all, in our homes, around the family table. Where there is a voice, a gesture, a face that leads to Christ, the family experiences the beauty of the Gospel.” — Pope Leo XIV

Important Upcoming Updates to Confirmation

In the upcoming years, throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta, the minimum grade for receiving Confirmation is being lowered from 10th grade (norm) to 6th grade (norm). At Prince of Peace, implementation will begin as follows. During the 2026-2027 school year, children as young as 5th grade who have been baptized and received First Eucharist can register for Faith Formation (namely: 5th grade-POP Families or 6th-12th grade Youth Ministry), which will serve as the first year of their two-year Confirmation journey. During the 2027-2028 school year, these youth may then be eligible to participate in a specific Confirmation preparation to receive the sacrament in 2028.
