Columbarium

& Memorial Garden

Prince of Peace is exploring a permanent, prayerful resting place for cremated remains, within the life of our parish community.

Learn about the project

A Place Where Faith lives beyond a lifetime.

What is a columbarium?

A sacred and permanent resting place

A columbarium is a structure with niches designed for the respectful interment of cremated remains. Each niche may accommodate up to two people and includes an engraved faceplate.

The Catholic Church permits cremation when cremated remains are treated with the same dignity and reverence given to the human body and are laid to rest in a sacred place.

Faith

A final resting place rooted in the sacramental life of the Church.

Family

A permanent place where loved ones can remain close to their parish family.

Prayer

A peaceful setting for remembrance, reflection, and prayer.

Legacy

A sacred garden that will serve generations of Prince of Peace families.

            Frequently asked questions

What you may want to know.

Details will continue to be refined as the parish reviews survey results and final project estimates.

What is the estimated cost per niche?

The cost is still a work in progress. The average price at other Catholic churches in the Archdiocese of Atlanta ranges from $6,000 to $9,000, and we expect ours to be within that range.

Can I purchase a space before the columbarium is built?

Yes. Pre-construction pricing will be offered at a significant discount. The amount is pending final survey results and cost estimates.

Will there be a capital campaign for this project?

No new capital campaign initiative is planned. The project will be funded by niche purchases.

When will the columbarium be ready?

The project is still in development, but the current expectation is late 2027 or early 2028.

Do I have to be a parishioner to purchase a niche?

No. Parishioner pricing, however, will be discounted compared with non-parishioner pricing.

How many people can be placed in one niche?

Typically, a niche can accommodate up to two people.

Are there extra fees at the time of interment?

The only additional cost is expected to be the urn or urns.

Can I purchase multiple niches to keep my family together?

Yes. When purchasing one or more niches, you will be able to select the location.

Does the urn come with the niche purchase?

No. Urns are not included. Sizing guidelines will be provided.

Will there be memorial donation opportunities?

Yes. Opportunities are expected for donations toward statues, plaques, benches, and other memorial features. Details will be provided once the building process begins.

What information may be included on the niche faceplate?

The inscription may include the deceased’s first name, middle or maiden name, last name, date of birth, and date of death.

May my pet’s remains be placed with me?

No. Only human cremated remains are permitted in the columbarium.

Do I have to be Catholic to be interred in the Prince of Peace columbarium?

You do not have to be Catholic if you will be interred with a Catholic member of the parish.

What happens if I purchase a niche but later decide I no longer need or want it?

Cancellation, transfer, and other available options will be explained in the purchase agreement.

What happens if I relocate after purchasing a niche? Can I receive a refund?

Refund and transfer policies will be outlined in the purchase agreement.

Is there an annual maintenance fee?

No. Maintenance and relocation costs are included in the initial purchase price.

Will the columbarium be open day and night?

Yes. The columbarium will be illuminated and accessible both day and night.
