DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, June 11\, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. \nHere in the Archdiocese of Atlanta the diocesan consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus will take place at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Atlanta on Friday\, June 12\, at 7pm. Space will be limited\, so plan accordingly if you plan to attend. \nHere at Prince of Peace\, we will also celebrate Mass at the same time\, on Friday\, June 12\, at 7pm. \nIn addition\, we will offer Novena prayers before the start of all Masses beginning on June 3rd. Please join your prayers with those of the US Bishops for the benefit of our nation! \nAs we entrust our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus\, let us pray for healing where there is division\, peace where there is unrest\, and a renewal of faith in every heart. May the Lord guide our leaders\, bless and strengthen our families\, and draw all people ever closer to His Sacred and merciful Heart.

My mother was raised in a Baptist home and my father in a Catholic one. I was Baptized into the Catholic Church at the age of seven at the request of my mother’s best friend. But after the 4th grade\, my family moved me away from the Catholic School system and I did not go back to Mass until I started RCIA at the age of 34. \nI listened to the lies of the world. I pursued meaning in travel\, shallow relationships\, and having as much “fun” as I could afford. I bounced from place to place all through my twenties never finding true joy or peace. Falling in and out of love\, without knowing what love was. In my travels I would encounter Christians and their Joy\, which puzzled me\, but I took note of it. \nEventually\, I called on the name of Jesus out of desperation; and said my first truly humble prayer. He answered that prayer immediately and He took me\, and is still taking me\, on the wildest adventure of my life.
